A gift from the Class of 1966.... Here's what was happening in the community, the school, and the world when this class was setting off on their future endeavors. Watch for updates to this section! Local Events Ozark's population was 10,368. Five teens were found dead in a parked automobile at an abandoned city dump near Blackwell airport. The cause of death was ruled as carbon monoxide poisoning. Walter Hand Motor Company moved into an impressive facility at the intersection of Daleville and West Reynolds Streets. Carroll High's band performed a half-time show for the Dallas Cowboy-Minnesota football game as well as performing at an Auburn University half-time show. A bus loaded with African American migrant workers crashed about 10 miles north of Ozark, killing 12 of the 30 passengers. The CHS senior members of the band were: Eddie Johnson, Berta Kingsley, Charles Andrews, Angelyn Medley, Sylvia Williams, John Belcher, Les Thagard, Henry Steagall, Ernest Davies, Jerry Burns, Sandy Adkinson, Rona Runkle, Peggy Cook, Erskine Levy, Walter Payne, Rick Grantham, Austin Snellgrove, Debbie Gary, Judy Langford, Thyra Carmichael, and Yvonne Stanford. National Events Rioting and looting that claimed 34
lives broke out in the Watts section of Los Angeles. The U.S. launched Gemini VII which was piloted by Air Force Lt. Col. Frank Borman and Navy Cmdr. James A. Lovell. The New York Jets signed University of Alabama quarterback, Joe Namath to a contract worth $400,000. A U.S. midget submarine located a missing hydrogen bomb which had fallen from an American bomber into the Mediterranean off Spain. The American space probe Mariner 4 flew
by Mars, sending back photographs of the planet. World Events Rhodesia proclaimed its independence from Britain. Cubans were allowed to leave their country which started an airlift of refuges to the U.S. Winston Churchill died in London at the age of 90. Guest Book Entries

CommentsI've just discovered this web site and have enjoyed browsing. I encourage you to add your name to the list. We had our 35th reunion in October 2001 and it was the best one yet! These days (and as we age) it seems even more important to keep in touch with old friends. I'd love to hear from my classmates.
CommentsI just browsed through the guest comment page and loved seeing some of my old friends. This is our 35th reunion year and I would love to hear from some of the "66" graduates. Bob and I have been living in Starkville, MS for 9 years now. We get back to Ozark often since our Moms both still live there. We really enjoy the CHS Web Page! Peg
CommentsHi. My mother graduated from here in 1966, Karen Boginski. I am one of her 3 daughters. I'm looking for a high school picture of her. If anyone remembers her, please email me. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
CommentsLike the site. Sharon "Cook" Windham and I would like to know if anyone would like to get together for a 35th class reunion. Sure would like to see everyone! E-mail me, Lucia
CommentsThanks for all the hard work on the web site--it's great! Hopefully in 2001 our class can have a 35th reunion. Who would ever think we would live that long!! I would love to hear from any of our class members--especially the Ft. Rucker members who have been long gone. I'm still in Alabama, just at the opposite end of the state up in Muscle Shoals. 1934
