Here's what was happening in the community, the school, and the world when this class was setting off on their future endeavors. Watch for updates to this section! Local Events "Big River" was presented at Flowers Center for the Performing Arts by the CHS musical theater. Bob Bunting was hired by the City of Ozark to fill the new position of Economic Development Director. Winn Dixie held their grand opening at their new store location. Patrick Rodgers, the CHS senior starting linebacker, was killed in a weekend motorcycle-automobile accident in Dothan. A ground breaking ceremony took place at Godwin Station for a $6 million shopping complex for the future home of K-Mart and Food World. Daleville City Manager Bobby Holland was named the new director of the JROTC program at CHS. He replaced retiring Lt. Col. George W. Harris who had been director for 14 years. Kennon Washburn, a 17-year veteran of the Ozark City School Board was elected first vice-president of the Alabama Association of School Boards. At least 250,000 people visited Christmas Village in Ariton between Thanksgiving and the new year. Dr. Michael McNutt opened his dental office in Ozark. Twenty-four students from the CHS Government Club attended the 44th Annual YMCA Youth Legislature in Montgomery. Drew Wyatt was elected Youth Governor. 227 graduated on May 29 from CHS at the Ozark Civic Center. The city’s attempt to annex 25 Sq. miles of property was defeated overwhelmingly by voters in the affected area. Named to the All-tournament Team for the Dale County Baseball Classic were Mark McDonald and Brantley Steagall, both pitchers for the CHS baseball team. Coach Paul Terry requested to be released from his coaching duties for the 92-93 school year. Terry had been the head coach since 1979. James Blanchard was named the head coach at CHS. Dr. Michael Morgan was convicted of sexual molestation of a 12 year-old girl at Dale Medical Center. His conviction was later overturned on appeal and an $80,000 out-of-court settlement was reached. years. Actress Marlene Dietrich died at her
Paris home at age 90. The White House announced the start of "Operation Desert Storm" which was to drive Iraq out of Kuwait. A USAir jetliner landed on top of a commuter plane at Los Angeles International airport killing 35 people. Serial Killer Jeffery Dahmer, was sentenced in Milwaukee to life in prison. After we all graduated I joined the Army and I have just eclipsed the 12 year mark on active duty. I am currently on my second tour of Germany and have been stationed here for the last four years. Right now I am preparing for a 2nd tour of Iraq; so hopefully you guys and gals that remember me will say a prayer for me. The Army has done a lot for me and I really enjoy it. I've been acting in NYC for the last five years and recently started the grad film program at NYU. Yeah, what i really wanna do is direct. Acting has been good to me, some theater, some TV and some film. I recently finished a Broadway run with Denzel Washington... I get home to Ozark a few times a year to see my family but I'm sorry I missed the reunion. Hope you're doing well and I'll try to catch you next time. I just got back into town and wanted to say hello. I moved after graduating to Florida and had to leave Paul behind. I met someone and married, then after 8 years divorced. We had a daughter, who is 7 yrs. old. I moved back to Florida afterwards, and Elisabeth Rhodes called Paul's mom and told her to get him to call me. CommentsWassup CHS FAMILY!!!! This be Lakisha Squire...now Hunter...Yup, I done said I dooooze...lol...sending mad love to the dirty south. I attended CHS back in 87-90 timeframe. My folks were military so ya know how that goes...I rolled out after a couple of years, however, I was part of the JR Varsity Volleyball Team and I lucked up and was selected as one of the homecoming attendants for my class both years I was there. I participated in the Ms Bronze contest, which I also lucked up and won. I must admit...I was the most active EVER while I was in Ozark. I made many friends while there....memories which I will never EVER forget! My best buddy at the time, and still to this day was Tangy Stephens (the black chick with blonde hair and hazel eyes). If ya I happen to jog your mememory, and we were cool back in the dizzay....holla! I would love to hear from ya! Peace and Blessings *Kish*

CommentsOH WOW!!! where do I begin? I had the most wonderful time this weekend at the reunion. So many people showed up and everyone looks so good and doing so well. I was not disappointed in the least. I would drive six and a half hours to do this again any time. Thank you to all of you who put it together. You did a wonderful job. CommentsI am trying to get together a 10th year class reunion with some help from my fellow classmates. We are going to meet Thursday December 13, 2001 about 8:00 P.M. at Dance Dimensions down town close to the police station. Tracy Gilland has been nice enough to let us use her studio. CommentsHello to all of my fellow classmates. I thought I had posted a message on here before. OH well, I have a five year old daughter who will begin school in August and I just hope that she can have wonderful memories all through her school life. I enjoy coming here and to the other alumni sites and seeing how everyone is doing. I guess we do not have very many of us on here. Hopefully we will get more and have a wonderful reunion next year. I would really enjoy seeing everyone now that we are all "grown" up. Also, I was wondering if anyone knows Jodie Payne. She was in the class of "94 and was in school with my sister.
